Top Ten Reasons I Want To Meet Dana White

danawhiteposeDana White is the most powerful man in mixed martial arts and there's no shortage of people who want to meet him.  None of them have the compelling reasons for wanting to spend time with 'The Dana' that Yael Grauer does, nor have they compiled them in list form.
Either you love to hate him or you love him, but anyone with a brain has at least a begrudging respect for the guy. I just wish I could spend a day picking his brain. Here are my top ten reasons why:

1)   From a distance, I would describe Dana White’s business philosophy as Machiavelli meets Sun Tzu. And although authors such as Mark McNeilley, Gerald Michaelson, Kaihan Krippendorff and Donald Krause have written books attempting to apply the principles of the Art of War into management and business, nobody knows who the hell they are. Dana White, on the other hand, is legendary. Ranting profanity-laced videos not withstanding, I would love to talk to him about what can only be described as business savvy.

2)   I heard an interview with Dana White on some radio show and he promised the DJ he’d show him a good time in Vegas. Bars, casinos and strip clubs I’m sure. I’d love to get Dana White out of his natural habitat, however. I wonder how he’d do in, say, an independent café with no security guards and where he doesn’t know the owner. Or perhaps the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. I know what you’re thinking—there’s no way in hell anybody could talk Dana White into going on a nature hike with a stranger. But this is my dream, damn it!

3)  I've dated several guys that occasionally go to Vegas with all of their (male) friends. One even got to see the Dean of Mean get knocked out. While anybody with a penis would make it clear that I’m certainly not invited on these outings--and I'm not excited about tagging along where I’m not wanted or be a hyperventilating over-controlling bitch (like Melissa in the Hangover), I can't say I'd exactly mind showing these fine gentlemen up. Just once.

4)  This is a no-brainer. Dana White knows UFC better than just about anybody, and I’m a pretty big fight geek. If I could get over the intimidation factor, we might be able to have conversations about the most obscure fighters ever. I’m sure he’d have a zillion back stories that never made it on the air. Plus, he's one of the few people in MMA that actually thinks its okay to hold Gina Carano accountable when she repeatedly fails to make weight.

5)  We know that Dana White reads Sherdog and the Savage Science, because he’s admitted on an ESPN article that he didn’t like the way they cover the sport. But what else does he read? I’m dying to know what his top five favorite MMA sites are. MMA Opinion? MMA Weekly? Who are his favorite journalists? Who do I need to write for to get UFC press creds? I gotta know.

6)  Even in his ranting diatribe against Loretta Hunt, Dana White actually had some really valid comments. He totally shot down Hunt’s assertions that the UFC was protecting Rich Franklin in, like, two words. There is certainly a method to his madness. Cracking the code might be a tall order, but I think I can at least scratch the surface. Until then, I’ll be playing on Google Fight.

7)  Teenybopper magazines are filled with obscure factoids about people I could care less about, like Angelina Jolie. I’d love to know what makes Dana White tick. In fact, I believe if people began to see him as more of a human being there’d be less conspiracy theories floating around.

8)   Dana White has a background in aerobics instruction. I’ve got to know what kind of crazy workouts he put people through. I’m sure it wasn’t just jumping jacks.

9)  I’ve just got to know who came up with those TUF 1 challenges.

10)  In a surprising move, Dana White has said that John McCain was the man who started UFC. I’d love to hear what he has to say about Sarah Palin.
